Greenland’s 2026 stamp program
By Linn’s Staff
Greenland’s postal service, Tusass, has announced details of the 24 stamps in its 2026 stamp program.
Three Feb. 16 issues begin the program. A Greenlandic plants series continues for its second year with another two stamps by artist Buuti Pedersen. This year's subjects are the Arctic Felwort and Glacial Buttercup. Another series continues in its second year with a Feb. 16 issue; the two 2026 Ethnographic photos from Greenland stamps continue with designs by Ina Rosing.
Finally, two Feb. 16 stamps continue the dog sled series that began in 2024. These stamps feature the North Greenland sled. The subject of dog sleds continues with a single March 28 issue of one stamp commemorating the Greenland Dog Sledding Championship and designed by Miki Jacobsen.
Two issues debut May 8. A single stamp follows the 2026 Small European Postal Administration Cooperation (SEPAC) theme of iconic landmarks. The other May 8 issue follows the 2026 Europa theme celebrating the 70th anniversary of Europa stamps with one stamp designed by Finnish-German graphic artist Klaus Welp and one by Greenlandic designer Bolatta Silis-Hoegh.
On May 23 Tusass will issue four franking labels with the theme of Greenlandic fauna.
Tusass will issue two stamps and a souvenir sheet May 23 during the Boston 2026 World Expo, taking place May 23-30 at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Prolific stamp engraver Martin Mörck is credited with the artwork for the issue.
Multiple issues will arrive Aug. 12, the same day that a total solar eclipse will pass across northeast Greenland, Iceland and Spain. A stamp from artist Malene Guldager Olsen will mark the event.
A semipostal stamp will benefit the Armargivat shelter in Tasiilaq. The stamp, with art from Camilla Nymand Petersen, will also be issued in a souvenir sheet of four. A new series on the history and use of the kayak begins Aug. 12 with two stamps issued in sheets of 10 as well as a souvenir sheet.
An Aug. 12 stamp marks the 50th anniversary of the modern Aasivik, an annual Greenlandic summer gathering for young people, that began in 1976. Aasivik means “summer gathering” or “summer camp” in Greenlandic and traditionally referred to seasonal settlements where Inuit communities came together during the summer months. The stamp features artwork by Ivinguak Stork Hoegh.
The series of definitive stamps bearing the portrait of King Frederik X also continues Aug. 12 with a 25-krone stamp engraved by Mörck using a portrait by Steen Brogaard. On that same day Tusass will offer a booklet containing two copies of all six stamps in the 2024-2026 dog sled series.
The 2026 program concludes with several Nov. 6 issues, plus a year pack containing all of the 2026 stamps and souvenir sheets. Tusass continues its Everyday Heroes in Greenland series with two stamps again designed by Lisbeth Karline. The heroes depicted on the stamps will not be revealed until the stamps are issued.
Two Nov. 6 stamps mark digital education and music initiatives launched by Tusass in Greenland since 2020. Tusass Coding Class teaches coding and technological skills to primary and secondary school students, while Tusass Music, introduced in 2023, supports Greenlandic musicians through a user-centered streaming model. The stamps are designed by Maja-Lisa Kehlet.
Two Christmas stamps in a Nov. 6 issue are designed by Paarma Olsvig Brandt, who also designed a 2020 Campaign Against COVID-19 semipostal stamp (Scott B46) and two stamps in a 2022 issue dealing with protecting the environment (894-895).
Stamps from Tusass are available online at www.stamps.gl/en.stamps.gl/en. The 2026 stamp program is tentative and subject to change.
